- Messages sent in group chats and direct messages within the app

2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:

- Enable co-ownership group formation and management
- Facilitate communication between co-owners

- Display your public profile to other users based on your privacy settings

- Improve and maintain the Divvify platform
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or marketing partners.
We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With other users: Your profile information (name, photo, bio) is visible to other Divvify users based on your privacy settings. Co-ownership terms, contribution amounts, and group activity are visible to members of your co-ownership groups.
- With service providers: We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to store files (S3), send emails (SES), and deliver content (CloudFront). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- For legal reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Divvify, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: If Divvify is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and JWT-based authentication.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
5. Your Privacy Controls
Divvify gives you control over your profile visibility. From your profile settings, you can choose to show or hide:
- Your active co-ownerships
- Your saved listings
- Your interests
You can also block other users, which prevents them from viewing your profile or contacting you.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.
7. Children's Privacy
Divvify is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of Divvify after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
